Sterling and Leesburg, Virginia, September 12, 2003 Potomac Vacuums and Appliances (PVA) warned its CENTRAL VACUUM customers against using Plumber's Snake a common mistake -- to open clogged up Central Vacuum pipes.

"Please do not use plumber's snake. This tool is to be used in water pipes. If you use it in central vacuum pipes it will jam pack the objects into a fitting and it will be very hard to dislodge," warned PVA co-owner and Chief Executive Officer T.R. Mutlu.

Potomac Vacuums and Appliances Inc. since 1990 sells, installs, and maintains a wide variety of central vacuum systems for the home and office, including M.D. and Drain Vac models.

********* What to do if and when a Central Vacuum system gets clogged?

In response to another customer question that "do central vacuums get clogged easily?" T.R., a master central vacuum specialist for the last 14 years, issued the following statement:
" Central Vacuums and portable vacuums are very similar in this sense. A central vacuum hose is 1 " in diameter.
If it sucks a large object or a pencil or something similar it will stop right at the floor attachment intake or at the hose handle ( where the first curve is located).
If an object gets through 1 diameter hose it will not get stuck inside 2" diameter smooth surfaced PVC pipe. If that occurs due to an object such as a Christmas tree branch, then the remedy is extremely easy. You can reverse suck back the object from the same inlet."

"We are always ready to help around the Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia metropolitan area with all your central vacuum issues. Just give us a call at 800-655-7002," said T.R.

Sterling and Leesburg (Virginia) based Potomac Vacuums and Appliances (PVA) was established in 1990 as "Discount Vacuums." It was re-organized in 2002 as a women-owned company under an expanded ownership.
