The Permanent Observatory of Design in Milan (Italy) Singles Out the Work of Beverly Hills-Based Designer Robert Radi for Two Prestigious Recognitions

Beverly Hills, CA June 22, 2004 -- In 2004 the recognitions for the design work of Robert Radi just keep coming at his Beverly Hills Studio. After having been honored with 4 Good Design Awards from the Chicago Athenaeum – Museum of Architecture & Design, and receiving a Nomination for a National Design Award from the Smithsonian - Cooper Hewitt of New York, Robert Radi was informed by the Permanent Observatory of Design he has been recognized with two prestigious ADI DESIGN INDEX 2004 awards.

In this instance, Robert Radi was awarded for the styling and design performed on the American Angler – Electric Fillet Knife, a sleek yet aggressive design geared to the sporting goods market and the Douglas miniVAC a compact design vacuum cleaner conceived for rapid intervention in the household and automotive environments.

The winning products have been included in the annual publication simply titled ADI Design Index 2004 that will be unveiled at today at the Triennial International Fair of Milan, and will be available in bookstores throughout Europe and specialized stores worldwide short thereafter. Only the products and projects published in the annual ADI DESIGN INDEX are entered in the triennial selection for the Golden Compass Award (Premio Compasso d'Oro).

This year the 20th Edition of the Golden Compass Award, scheduled to take place in Fall 2004, celebrates its 50th year anniversary.

The inclusion in the ADI DESIGN INDEX 2004 publication and in the 20th edition of Golden Compass Award selection process was an obvious source of excitement for Robert Radi, that at 32 is well on his way in making a name for himself in product styling and design as a third generation designer, winner of FIVE Good Design™ Awards, part-time professor at Otis College for the past 7 years, and member of ADI the prestigious Industrial Design Association headquartered in Milan, Italy, while serving a selected clientele spanning from consumer products to household, consumer electronics, eyewear, automotive aftermarket, sporting goods, office products, personal care and other fine industries.

"Receiving these prestigious awards and recognition doesn't feel so much as an achievement per se", says Robert Radi "but rather as a catalyst for future design, a vehicle to strengthen relationship with my selected clientele and a platform to evolve the unique identity of my styling and design methods."
